The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) is the largest professional society in the world for professionals in the field of operations research (O.R.).  It was established in 1995 with the merger of the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA) and The Institute of Management Sciences (TIMS).

The award is given for the best dissertation in any area of operations research and the management sciences that is innovative and relevant to practice.

The Impact Prize is awarded once every two years and is to recognize contributions that have had a broad impact on the field.

 Call for Entries - 2009 Franz Edelman Award Competition
Winning teams will win cash awards up to $10,000, be inducted into the Franz Edelman Academy, and published in the January, 2010 issue of Interfaces. Deadline to provide a one- or two-page summary of your project is Wednesday, October 22, 2008.
